EDUCATION
KC Group, named after late Shri Kishan Chand Mahajan ji, dates back to the forties of the previous century as one of the biggest timber trading in north India with forest leases in the states of J & K and Himachal Pradesh. In the last decade of the previous century, KC Group enterprises consisted of a plywood factory, the Tawi Chemical Industries, KC Minerals and the old Indira Theatre. As its first venture into private sector school education, KC Public School was established in 1997 on a 76 kanal area in the pristine surroundings of Muthi on Akhnoor Road.
KC Public School
KC Public School was the first educational institution to come into existence in the process of KC Group's diversification into the field of education. It started functioning from April 1997 on a newly-constructed school campus spread over 76 kanals of land in the verdant and pollution-free area of Muthi on Akhnoor Road. It is a premier co-educational Senior Secondary School affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi with more than 2500 students on its rolls. The school infrastructure is tailored to the objective of providing an all-round education to its children in a congenial, healthy and stress-free environment.
The school believes in a holistic approach towards education. In other words, it constantly endeavours to create and sustain an educational environment that offers the learner the full range of opportunities to perceive, crystallize, sharpen and utilize her/his manifest and latent intelligences, which, according to Professor Howard Gardner, form the foundation for a successful and fulfilling career of an individual, especially in the global community of today.
In the past 20 years, the school has shaped up into a model institution through sustained efforts of a progressive management that makes no compromise when it comes to quality. The infrastructure of facilities is constantly upgraded to provide quality education at par with the best in the country. All technological innovations harnessed to strengthen pedagogical tools of learning are constantly added and upgraded. School computer labs equipped with state-of-the-art gadgetry cater to the needs of latest curricula in information and communication technology for school children. In 2007, the school was conferred with Excellence Award for Schools in Computer literacy for the State of Jammu & Kashmir by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Government of India in a function held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. Every classroom in the school is equipped with the best E-learning tools and technologies. A Language Lab in the school facilitates better teaching-learning of English language at all levels in the school.
The school has also established the tradition of outstanding levels of achievement in Class X & XII examinations held by the Central Board of Secondary Education. The pass percentage in these examinations is almost invariably 100 and a number of students earn merit certificates in these examinations every year. Quite a few of its outgoing students make it to the IITs and numerous other institutes of repute in India and abroad. The school has the distinction of being the only school from J&K to be granted membership of Round Square - an association of world�s top 180 schools.
KC LAW COLLEGE
The K.C. Law College is affiliated to the University of Jammu and is approved by the Bar Council of India, New Delhi.. Law has always played a vital role in structuring the society all over the world. To ensure that law achieves the objectives for which it has been held in such a high esteem, the highest standard of legal education has to be maintained. Therefore, to provide quality legal education to the students of the State, who otherwise would have to go outside the State for a 5-Year Law Degree Course after 10+2 examination, the K.C. Educational Society established a Law College at Muthi Jammu, in the year 2003. It started imparting instruction to the First Semester students of the 5-Year Degree of Bachelor of Laws course from September 1, 2003. A 3-year Degree of Bachelor of Laws course was launched in the academic session 2005-06.
The college is located on Jammu-Akhnoor Road at Muthi within the K.C. Educational Complex, Paloura , which is around 5 km from the General Bus Stand, Jammu. Public transport is easily available to the college complex. However, college conveyance between the city centre and the college is made available provided the number of students opting for it is financially viable.
The objectives of the Law College, inter alia, are:
- To impart quality legal education in order to imbue and promote legal, cultural and ethical values in the students and to inculcate in them the sense of responsibility towards the achievement of the objectives enshrined in the Constitution of India.
- To prepare the students to be humane and competent lawyers and also develop in them a sense of responsibility as law-abiding citizens and to serve the society in the field of legal services, law reforms, policy planning and legislation etc.
- To prepare the students so that they promote legal awareness in the society so as to make it responsive towards human rights and human values to achieve social cohesion.
KC COLLEGE OF EDUCATION
The Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir and the University of Jammu granted permission to the K.C Educational Society to start the KC College of Education with effect from the Academic Session 2001-2002.
K.C College of Education is located on Akhnoor Road opposite BSF School Paloura which is about five kilometers from the city centre. The college is housed in an independent building on 8 kanals of land with lush green surroundings and free from dust and pollution, madding crowds, noise and disturbance. The atmosphere is serene and pleasant.
The College is run by the K.C Educational Society registered under the Societies Act. The college is recognized by the Jammu and Kashmir Government vide letter No HE/Recog/KC/2001/dated 12-7-2002 and is affiliated to the University of Jammu.
The avowed objective of the college is to train dedicated, enlightened and skillful teachers who would in turn serve the society by ensuring the all-round development of young children entrusted to their charge. The country, at the present juncture, requires a large number of teachers with a missionary zeal who would help the society in shaping the bright future of its citizens keeping in view the lofty ideals and high principles enshrined in our sacred constitution. The College on its part tries to achieve the highest standards of academic excellence envisaged by great thinkers, philosophers and Educationists such as Gandhi, Tagore, Aurobindo, John Dewey and others.
